Tornado DS Review

Posted by ,

There aren’t too many games out there that put you in charge of such natural disasters as a Tornado, but this games does. You are put in charge of Toki and the  other members of the Cosmic Cleaning squad as they set out to restore all of Earth’s buildings, vehicles, inhabitants and other obscure objects that have been stolen by the envious Prince using his mischievous “Black Hole Device.” This evil entity has decided to use this device to suck all landmarks, people, animals, plants and buildings.... everything he will need to decorate his own world. Toki and the  gang have decided to use their own personal Tornado machines to transport everything back to where it belongs.

OK as you might be able to tell the story behind this game isn’t the strongest .. the plot has so many holes in it you could drive a bus through them or perhaps a fleet of them.  The character design is very Sonic the hedgehog in its look and the dialogue is generic and fairly throw away so the presentation certainly isn’t all that engaging but does this game sweep you off your feet and suck you into a tornado of gameplay??

Tornado clearly pays homage to Namco’s Katamari Damacy, and the same principle of collecting objects in order to grow in size, which in turn allows you to collect larger objects, applies here.

Good core idea that is buried in a ton of irritating flaws making for a frustrating and painful gaming experience.

Multiplayer/Online Content
Frustrating time restrictions and annoying objectives , grrrrr
4.0
Overall
Good idea for a game that was ruined by some cumbersome controls and ridiculous restraints and pointless objectives. Check your insurance disclaimer before playing.
