Arberth Studios wanted to show the world that a
three person team in Wales could produce a quality point-and-click style game. Rhiannon: Curse of the Four Branches gives the feeling of a ghost story with a twist. Common sense problem solving will come into play often. No, it’s not a high dollar production, or awesome game mechanics and visuals, but will be enjoyed by many fans of mystery and the paranormal.
The story takes place on a remote farm in Wales. You (Chris) receive an email requesting your presence at the Sullivan’s farmhouse, better known as Ty Pryderi to house-sit. The Sullivan’s needed to take a little vacation with their daughter Rhiannon, and don’t know when they will return. They failed to mention that Rhiannon’s head has been filled with disturbing voices, noises, and visions. The farmhouse is being worked on to bring it back to its glory days, but Tommy Harris and the construction crew are M.I.A... What about all the tree branches laying around, should you start a fire, pick
them up, leave them?
As I arrived at the farmhouse, I had to stop and enjoy the landscaping for a moment, only to notice the light dim, and grounds put together nicely. Then walked over to the front door, looked under the flower pot and grabbed the key to start my very own lesson in Welsh mythology. Once you turn on the electricity, and turn on the lights you see it’s really a nice place. It is soon learned that the construction crew will not be back to finish the work, and the contractor will be sending your friends the bill for his wrecked van. Was he seeing things, or did he really see a horse running free? Jen Sullivan’s message tells you to start a fire, and not to forget to feed the cat, or it will bring you a treat. You wouldn’t think starting a fire would involve so much at this point. You will have to visit many places and grab several things to get that fire started.
