What a pleasant surprise this version of House of the Dead  is compared to the previous arcade versions. I’m sure last time I checked Quentin Tarantino was a movie director and not a game producer. It looks like Dusk till Dawn has been remade for your own personal Wii gory overkill delight with a few slight twists, and a game that’s certainly not for the easily offended!

You start with agent G as seen from previous versions but this time he has teamed up with Isaac Washington a dude with attitude from Bayou City. Although this game is already set on a very distinctive motion of its own it certainly doesn’t lack the need for your attention at all times with zombies flying from all directions as the main characters try to find the notorious papa Caesar who’s responsible for all the mutant men and women that seem to love the scent of your cologne.
It’s your average light shooter with plenty of action-packed fun. The trick is to get as many kill combo’s as possible to up your score. Shooting the golden brains gives you an extra bonus at the end of the stage and the tiny green DNA splodges slow down time giving you an opportunity to concentrate on your head shot’s which I found very use full for propping up my kill combo’s. This game certainly isn’t very easy, but it’s not overly hard either. A drawback when you die is that  you can’t skip the video intro to each stage which does get annoying. At the end of every stage you have a chance to get money and buy new weapons to aid your zombie-killing spree through to the next boss. With story mode on each stage unlocks the director’s cut scenes with extra footage involved which can give you a little something extra if you’re super sharp shooting is on fire.

Our Rating for The House of the Dead Review (Wii)
8.0
Replay
The urge to want to pick this game up again is almost as infectious as the disease that produces so many zombies within the game. The repetition of point and shoot may get dull after a while
8.5
Graphics
With great attention to detail and the old movie Tarantino feel to the game it certainly has its own unique feel
7.5
Sound
Definitely two thumbs up from me, fast-paced adding drama only annoying noise is on the Wii remote when you re-load your weapon
7.5
Gameplay
Straight forward point and shoot, certainly helps to have fast aim and a key eye for what’s going on around you and what’s coming at you
7.0
Multiplayer
Being able to play 2 player in story mode or getting competitive in the mini games section of the game makes it very appealing to getting your friends over for a shoot-em-up
8.5
Overall
Generally a great game the story line certainly adds a new story line perspective to an already familiar game play trend in this genre of game. Certainly worth its money if you fancy flying solo or having a session with some friends
