| Our Rating for Resident Evil 5 Review (Xbox 360) | |
| 9.5 | Replay The game’s persistent tracking of your character’s equipment makes highly addictive to go back and just keep playing through the game over and over and over. |
| 9.0 | Graphics The game’s impressive character models and animations are held back by some missed opportunities with the lighting and an occasional framerate issue. |
| 9.0 | Sound The game’s sound design feels right at home in RE 5, but there are some moments when the sound design doesn’t seem to match with what’s going on onscreen. |
| 9.5 | Gameplay I wish I could move and shoot at the same time. After you get past that one minor flaw, the gameplay really is about as much as you can have with a survival/horror game. |
| 8.0 | Multiplayer/Online Content The ability to play coop through split-screen and online is a great addition, and “The Mercenaries” game mode should tide most people over until the versus mode is finally released via Xbox Live/PSN. |

Overall The best game I’ve played all year, hands down. It does have a few flaws, but they’re so easy to get past once you dive into the intense and dangerous conspiracy of the Umbrella Corporation. |

I had made a point to stay away from a lot of the info surrounding Resident Evil 5 for largely two reasons. One, knowing how anticipated I already was for the game, I didn’t think that scouring for info would help feed that appetite. The second reason, I was afraid of what this game was going to become. Resident Evil 4 had been such a highly successfully game, both in my eyes and commercially, I was really beginning to fear what was going to be coming with Resident Evil. Moreover, what wasn’t going to be coming with Resident Evil 5. Luckily, after completing the game it’s obvious that my first reason for avoiding all the hype was much more reasonable than the second.
