Item reviewed: Jewel Quest Solitaire on DS

Take Jewel Quest one of the most popular games of 2004 and add in solitaire and you get this winning combination. You take on the character of the adolescent nephew of scholarly adventurer, Professor Percy Pack. Following an ill-fated adventure in Mexico, the Professor returned with nothing to show but some jewel sketches and home made playing cards. As you learn the ins and outs of his special game you unlock portions of his journal from his quest.

So don your fedora and grab your bull whip tuck the journal in your ruck sac and prepare yourself for this adventure!

Two modes of play greet you at the start: Full Quest and Just Cards. Full Quest takes you via a daring tale through the complete games, nearly 100 layouts in all, while the latter provides a cards-only version without the accompanying storyline.

Your goal is fairly simple, move the cards on each layout to a Foundation pile, valid moves being those one value higher or lower than the top card displayed. When you have used all the playable cards and no plays remain, flip a card over from the Stock pile and try again. Remove all the cards before your pile is depleted and you will advance on to the next layout of cards. However if you run out you will need to start over. As usual hints and undo features are limited.
