Indiana Jones and the Lost Puzzles Review (iPhone)

I am a massive Indiana Jones fan, in fact for the New Year’s party this year I was torn between him and a ninja. The ninja won out purely on cost of costume pieces. But Halloween is coming and it will be his time to shine.

Enough with my fanboy fantasies and on to the game. Indiana Jones and the Lost Puzzles is a tile matching title where you take control of Indy and move him from tile to tile in order to clear them and achieve the goal for each level. The controls are fairly forgiving and there were very few times he mis-stepped where  I didn’t want him to go. Of course this is THQ and Universomo and they have some fair amount of experience in decent control schemes.

Now one might think that the game would get boring since it’s just tile matching. But they did a great job of adding in multiple kinds of objectives and changing the gameplay up to the point where it’s interesting. I’ve played perhaps 10-15 hours of the game and can quickly lose a good half hour or more in a single session.

There are also very-Indiana Jones-like obstacles in the way including pits, spikes and snakes...why did it have to be snakes? I hate snakes!

Well no I don’t but everyone knows that Indy does. There are also powerups to be collected including idols, the Ark, the Holy grail and the Sankara stones so they’ve pretty much captured the feel of what makes Indy...Indy.

The graphics very cohesive and reminiscent of the films. Plus, when you start up the game, it plays the Raiders March and I instantly get goosebumps (it’s also one of my iPhone ring tones). The game sounds themselves aren’t too shabby either.http://gamersdailynews.com/images/awards/GDN_Gold_Award_LORES.gif

Overall, Indiana Jones and the Lost Puzzles will help you lose track of time as you raid the tombs of the ancients, withdraw the golden goodies within and try to top your opponents. It’s everything I would expect an Indiana Jones puzzle game to be for the iPhone.

Our Rating for Indiana Jones and the Lost Puzzles Review (iPhone)
9.5
Overall
Engrossing to the point of hour-long game sessions. Good variety of objectives and it’s Indiana Jones. Anything less than fantastic might create a horde of angry whip wielders.
