Warships: Sea on Fire Review (iPhone)

Posted by ,

Item reviewed: Warships: Sea on Fire on Iphone

Over the years there have been many iterations of the board game Battleship, both actual and imitation. This game, is an imitation but the gameplay is exactly the same as the board game. You just have a lot more ships.

In the game you can choose from three themes which have no bearing on the way the game plays, just the look. Either Space ships, modern Naval ships or Age of Exploration ships (sails, galleys, schooners, sloops etc.) You start, like you always do in this type of game by placing your ships in horizontal or vertical lines on the playing field. After that you take turns trying to sink each others ships. And that’s the gist of it.

The graphics are cool and unique and the sounds are decent. There’s very little else to say about the game. There are two game modes campaign and instant. The campaign has 20 levels and the difficulty increases as you go. Honestly, there is little else to say. There’s no multiplayer, not even hotseat which would have been extremely doable. There’s nothing special about this game that would make it stand out very much from any other Battleship like game. Even most actual Battleship games have some sort of multiplayer support.

The game is tied into the OpenFeint network but that includes achievements, leaderboards and not much else.

I can’t see why you would really want to invest in this game. Perhaps if there was multiplayer available then it might be worth sinking a little money into.

Our Rating for Warships: Sea on Fire Review (iPhone)
5.0
Overall
It’s neither here nor there really. It’s a single player battleship game and that’s it.
