Taleworlds has been hard at work for what seems like decades now on their Mount & blade series and every single time it is a massive hit. Not in the sells millions on millions of copies worldwide respect, but in the deep, involved gameplay that spawns hordes of die-hard fans who eat up every single word ever printed and greedily consume any information available. In essence, gamers.
Mount & Blade With Fire & Sword will not disappoint as it expands upon everything that we have seen in done in the original Mount & Blade and the follow up Warband. Now, it’s the 17th century and war rages across Russia, the Ukraine and the Baltics in the lands of Sweden, Muscovy, the Polish Republic, the Zaporozhian Army, and the Crimean Khanate.. Your task is to rise from a nobody, take control of a power and guide it to great heights.
As always you start with a single character, with no friends, a horse and some weapons. From there you must barter, loot, pillage, trade and woo your way to fame. Only then can you begin your true rise to power by taking control of a great city and the surrounding area. As always there is little in the way of direction (though the manual does outline the controls) for you to go as it is a fairly open-ended world that will go about its business even if you just sit and wait somewhere. The manual is like a backgrounder on all the items and options in the game. What you do with that info is completely up to you. Live the life of a roving bandit king? It’s possible. Play by the rules, impress the people in power and get hired on to continue expanding your influence? That’s possible too.
