SteelSeries Siberia Neckband Headset for iOS devices Review (electronics)

Posted by , 243 days ago

Now this version of the SteelSeries Siberia Neckband headset was made specifically for the iPhone, however, if you’ve got a first generation iPhone, it won’t fit. However, it will work on almost any phone with a standard 3.5mm headset jack. You won’t be able to use the buttons but you can certainly use the headset for much of your mobile phone audio needs.

SteelSeries Siberia Neckband Look and Feel

At first I couldn’t find a comfortable position for the headset because I wasn’t used to having a neckband headset but eventually I "broke in" the unit and got it to an extremely comfortable position where it stayed put. One of the greatest things about this headset is the full ear cups that are large enough to cover my ears and my earrings. Not only that but the large ear cup pads are snug against your head meaning they do block out some sounds from the surroundings, but they are in no way noise canceling. They do a sufficient job of wrapping your ears in sound though and the muffled exterior sounds can be drowned out if desired.

SteelSeries Siberia Neckband

The headset is slick, or for you more technical types, it is aesthetically pleasing. The sleek shiny white Siberia color scheme makes them stand out in a crowd of standard matte black mobile phone headsets. Because of the neckband configuration they headset is low profile but the ear cups, being full sized, are hard to miss. The SteelSeries logo is tastefully displayed on each ear cup as are the L/R (which could have been done away with if you ask me as the mic and cable give a natural orientation.

Our Rating for SteelSeries Siberia Neckband Headset for iOS devices Review (electronics)
9.5
Feel
At first there is some repositioning and futzing with the unit on your head until you find that perfect setup and then it’s flawless. The unit is sturdy and flexible so I felt no danger of breaking them and the cable is a nice thick, rubber-coated style.
10.0
Usability
Do not be put off by the fact that the SteelSeries Siberia Neckband Headset was designed with the iOS devices in mind, it works equally well on a wide range of devices that have a 3.5mm plug with or without the mic. This simply expanded its usage and raised the value score.
9.0
Value
The SteelSeries Siberia Neckband retails for $79.99 but the quality and craftsmanship on it, coupled with the multi-device usage make it a great deal. Far better than those $15 earbuds you have been using. Just make sure that the device you want to use it with, if not an iOS device, has a standard jack for it to fit.
9.5
Overall
This is an excellent headset and SteelSeries have truly done themselves proud again. There is also a PC and Xbox 360 compatible version of this
