F1 2011 Review (Playstation 3)

Posted by Christophor Rick (TheSuperGuido), Oct 05, 2011 16:59

F1 2011 comes back with a vengeance and all the official drivers, teams and circuits in the 2011 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP including the latest rule changes and it is everything you could want in an F1 game.
F1 2011 not actual gameplay
While multiplayer was included in last year’s version of the game, it’s been super-powered this time round. Online multiplayer? Sure. But what about local split screen racing? Yes, for the first time ever in HD F1 gaming history. Plus a new co-op mode.

Full grid, online racing is also achievable with 16 players and and up to 8 AI racers to give the full experience. On top of all that, there are two new tracks, more intense Be the Driver, new drivers, and tires.

But you’re not here to listen to a list of the new features like DRS and KERS, and day and night racing, you’re here to find out if it’s all it could be. So sit down, strap in and let’s get up to speed.
F1 2011 still not gameplayF1 2011 offers four preset levels of difficulty from easy to pro and the ability to customize on the fly. So for those less experienced racers, if you still want some guidance in the corners at a particular circuit, no worries, you can do that. You can also toggle things like braking assist, ABS, traction control, etc.

This is great because, obviously, each gamer is different, some want simulation to the point of realism while others want a more arcade-style of racing with foot to the floor action. In essence, there is something for everyone here and that means the game can appeal to the most novice of F1 fans as well as the most skilled.

Granted, F1 is known more for technical racing than it is for anything else and the lower the level of difficulty the less you have to worry about it all. But it’s still a fun experience at the lowest setting for some.

Our Rating for F1 2011 Review (Playstation 3)
10.0 Replay
This game makes me wish I did not have a job to attend to, or that I was an F1 racer so that my job was driving and playing this game when I was not driving.
8.0 Graphics
There’s still some weird jagged lines even in 720p. They look very much like last year’s graphics in this year`s game. I just thought they would look sharper with the new year and on the PS3.
9.0 Sound
The sounds of the game are spot on and all around make you feel like you’re in the F1 racing world.
9.0 Gameplay
Aside from the cutting corners flag pissing me off when I don’t think I cut the corner, the gameplay is great.
8.5 Multiplayer/Online Content
Co-op championship is a great addition, but it’s not available in LAN and split screen with your own drivers which seems like it is a miss.
9.0 Overall
F1 2011 is the top of the pile when it comes to F1 racing games. Well, it is about the only F1 racing game there is as well, but that doesn’t mean that this game is anything but great. Now, if I can just manage to find time to finish a full season again before the next one comes out, I will be satisfied.
