Skyrim, Arkham City, Deus Ex, Battlefield, and Dead Island all have one thing in common. They were published by large companies that had plenty of money for advertising. It seems that gamers are told by companies what games they will like instead of the other way around. Really you can’t blame a company for spending big money on advertising; the more hype a game has, the more sales. Gamers Daily News has always been a media outlet that tries to give coverage to the smaller indie titles, and as such, we would like to present you with 5 great games that you may have missed in 2011.
Hard Reset
If Gamers Daily News gave an award for “Indie Game of the Year,” then Hard Reset would have taken it in 2011. Hard Reset is a cyberpunk FPS that lets you rage against the machines. In a future where Artificial Intelligence has caused the machines to rebel, you alone stand in the way of their most coveted prize; a memory bank filled with digital copies of people’s intellect. If the machines can get these digital memories, then nothing will be able to stop them from their next stage of evolution and eventual global domination.

Graphically, Hard Reset is the cream of the indie crop. When I first launched the game, I was blown away. From the interactive menu to the starry sky, everything in Hard Reset looks like it was developed by a well known Triple A firm. As a first in the game industry, the developer made the buttons, consoles and computers in the game totally integrated into the gameplay. There is no need to “Push E” when you walk up to a terminal. Instead, you will seamlessly interact with them and this adds to the layer of realism of the game.
This is also one of the toughest games I have played in a while. With the level of difficulty, incredible graphics, and industry changing improvements to in-game terminals, Hard Reset is a must buy for every gamer.
