The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor Mobile Review
Posted by Christophor SuperGuido Rick, 79 days ago Nov 21, 2008

Following the story from the film loosely, Gameloft took to the side-scrolling action genre and colored it with the tints from the film. But do they swing to the far ledge of success of plummet to their doom?

I have to admit, games based on films generally start out with a negative in my book. Many titles in the past have simply appeared to be money-grabbing extensions and tie-ins without seemingly little thought or effort put into them based on the products we have seen in the past. Yet a few titles have managed to go above and beyond that.

The Mummy Tomb of the Dragon Emperor managed to mind the gap and even clear it with room to spare, but it wasn’t able to keep my attention 100%.

The graphics in the game are pretty good and so there’s no problem here. They are what we have come to expect on the wide range of mobile handsets that are out now. But they could still be so much more I think. Of course the games have to be playable on a wide range of handsets so it’s a case of lowest common denominator but I believe this is about to change.

Our Rating for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor Mobile Review
5.5

Replayability: I’m not sure I can say I would go back to replay this title but with the puzzle mode it’s got some replayable merit.
8.0

The graphics are good and interesting however they could still be so much more.
6.5

The music is good. The sound effects are flat and uninteresting.
8.0

Controls: The game fits well with the mobile phone keypad and thumbstick if you’ve got one of those.
7.0
Overall
It’s fun at times and frustrating at others. It could use some improvements but overall it’s a solid outing for Gameloft.

I absolutely hated the movie, but at least it looks like the game is decent. Would I still like it even if I didn’t like the movie?

Yeah like I said it loosely follows the story in the film. The game is a decent little platformer so you might enjoy it. In regards to mobile platformers lately there haven’t been tons that wow’d me. Amazingly Wall-E was a really quality platform/puzzle game though for the mobile.
