Here’s a novel idea, a Scottish person reviewing not one, but TWO video games involving an American sport. Should be interesting, but then maybe it’s not as crazy as it sounds. I mean, Ice Hockey is a game celebrated around the world and has the tag as the fastest game on Earth, so what isn’t there to love, right?

I’ve always been torn between the two major franchises in puck blasting games for a number of years and it’s always a hard one to call when both the 2K and EA Sports games have so many good and bad points to choose from, so I‘m going to do my best to separate the good from the bad and give you a definitive what’s what with regards to the software dedicated to a frozen puddle and padded men hitting the net and each other.

The way it will work will be as follows. There are going to be 5 main areas we’ll focus on: Graphics, Sound, Content, Gameplay and Value for money. Don’t panic though, as I’ll be giving both games their usual GDN scores at the end too, just to ensure we’ve taken care of everything. So let’s get to centre ice for the face off….
