Following on from the news of old school shoot ’em up Soldner X: Himmelsstürmer blasting it’s way onto the PS3 next month, GDN decided to catch up with project manager and main programmer of the game, Marcus Pukropski from SideQuest Studios to find out more about the upcoming title.

[GDN] Sidequest Studios have not been in the gaming field for very long, but some of the staff have. Can you tell us a bit about the company and some of the wealth of experience on the team, as well as some of the up and coming talent?
[SQS] The industry veteran in the Soldner-X team is me. I have 25 years of programming experience in general, of which I’ve been working in the gaming industry for 15 years. I’ve previously been under contract at BlueByte, Ubisoft and Electronic Arts and have worked on several “triple A” titles.
So right now I am in charge as project leader and main programmer of Soldner-X. Other core members of the team are our music composer Rafael Dyll, who has also worked on various gaming projects in the past as well as our main graphic designer Moritz Füllgrabe. Moritz has just recently graduated from university but has gained some practical experience during internships in the gaming industry. He got very attached to this project and surely does have a lot of talent.
There have been plenty more people involved in the project, including several tasks that we have outsourced to other professionals, such as the sound effects you can find in the game.
