A Stroke of Fate - Review

Posted by ,

Item reviewed: A Stroke of Fate on

Welcome to Germany, welcome to the 1940’s, and for those that have been living under a rock their whole lives, welcome to World War II.

A Stroke Of Fate has the welcome mat out and it’s decorated nicely for your arrival, as you leave the menu and begin the story you are given a beautiful selection of images combined with text giving you a prologue which you will definitely need to view more than once as the beautifully drawn images distract you from the information.

Now my first thought was that this would be much like the famous Broken Sword series and in full 2D but as the cartoon fades out, I am again wowed by what can only be described as perfect imagery. The smooth exterior of the castle looks gorgeous and as the snow gracefully drops down, my smile turns up as this is doing nothing but impressing me.

Upon entering the building the visuals just keep giving and giving, the furniture fits perfectly into every room whilst naturally producing shadow and reflection in response to the lighting and though they clearly stand out a little more than anything else the characters blend smoothly with their surroundings to create an absolutely flawless piece of visionary brilliance.

Our Rating for A Stroke of Fate - Review
6.8
Replay
It offers a great first run, but I feel only the bored and die hard fans will pick this one up after completion.
9.5
Graphics
Though not out of this world, the graphics are just amazing. Absolute perfection and truly beautiful to look at.
9.0
Sound
The music provides you with a brilliant atmosphere and historical feel. The later addition of voice acting will further improve the already well done sounds.
8.2
Gameplay
It’s far from revolutionary but sticking to the user friendly formula means you won’t have too many complaints about the way it plays.
