Amy Reviews - Bejeweled Twist
Posted by Amy ShortZ Baldry, 51 days ago

Yep you guessed it the guys at PopCap games have put on their thinking caps to give us this ingenious Bejeweled game which has made its way down the Popcap conveyer belt and is attacking every erogenous part of our brains to make us fall in love with this old time classic once again.

Upon starting the game you get the option of the classic style of play and the difference between the two is revealed later. Upon doing the usual hickory pokey of entering your name you can begin with the classic style of play where upon it introduces you to the twist of the Bejeweled family in the tutorial mode, upon whereby, instead of moving a gem and swapping it for the gem next to it as in previous versions the only way to get your gems to where you want them is to rotate them clockwise.

For me I was astounded, I’ve always loved Bejeweled and this new concept was already appealing to me and I’d only clicked a few times by this point. When you’ve made a few successful links the bubbly tube appears at the side of your gem grid thus giving you something to work towards. On the bottom of this tube is your options menu (always handy for adjusting your sound settings if you find the music gets a tad annoying) and at the top a kind of meter which fills up as the amount of sequential chains you get increases, if your familiar with guitar hero’s chain meter, the more chains you get the more your points get doubled. The idea of the game is to fill up your bubble meter by making 3 gems of the same kind or more line up and dealing with the distractions that pop up along the way.
