Gears of War 2 Review

It’s hard to believe that it’s been two years since Gears of War first invaded our living rooms, and now it’s time for the second entry in the series to follow suit. Epic Games promised several improvements to the already critically successful Gears of War franchise, but Epic Games doesn’t always have the best track record as evident by some of the Unreal Tournament games. |

| Our Rating for Gears of War 2 Review | |
| 8.0 | Replay I don’t know if everyone will go back through the campaign more than once, but I am almost willing to bet that nearly everyone will play through Horde mode at least twice. |
| 9.0 | Graphics The game does a lot of impressive things graphically, but it recycles textures way too much. |
| 9.1 | Sound The voiceovers are perfect for the characters and overall atmosphere of Gears of War, and the dialogue is a serious step-up from the last game. |
| 9.8 | Gameplay A few errant gameplay mechanics keep it from achieving a perfect ten in this category. |
| 8.8 | Multiplayer/Online Content While it is a little rough right now I imagine a solid patch could up it to at least a 9.3 in this category. |

Overall Gears of War 2 is not only a great sequel, but a great game in its own right. It improves upon everything the first one did right and sets the bar for all third-person shooters. |

Luckily, they seem to know exactly where they want the Gears of War series to go. A much more moving story, refined gameplay mechanics, and improvements to the Unreal graphics engine keep the game from ever missing a beat.
So begins the story and it really never looks back. Plenty of plot twists and intense battles await those who are ready to tackle the single-player campaign. I don’t want to give too much away, but its somewhat anticlimactic end is nothing when compared to what lies at the end of the credits. Let me say, you do not want to miss it.
