[GDN] What is Software Configuration Management SCM software and who needs it?
Software Configuration Management (SCM) systems enable the development of software, hardware and firmware. SCM is used to record, track and manage source code and digital assets and is needed by development teams large and small to manage projects and bring products to market in a timely manner.
[GDN] What companies are currently using Perforce’s SCM?
Nearly 5000 organisations around the world are Perforce customers. Perforce is currently used by 18 of the world’s top 20 games developers (according to ‘Game Developer’ magazine) for all their digital assets; not just source code. These include companies such as Kuju Entertainment, Rebellion Developments, Electronic Arts and SCEE. In addition, Perforce supports the concurrent development of software, hardware and firmware for companies including NVIDIA, National Instruments, Barclays Capital, Autodesk, Symbian, BAE Systems, N4 Solutions and SAP.
[GDN] What would you say has been the single most important thing that has made Perforce’s SCM so successful?
