Ninjatown is a Tower Defense clone. However developer Venan Entertainment injected a good amount of variety and humor into the game. Additionally, the usage of ninjas was simply brilliant. As you all know, ninjas kick the rum out of Pirates...or do they?
Ninjatown gives you eight types of huts to build which produce ninjas that all have specific skills such as freezing, quicker attack, stronger attack and aerial combat. Additionally there are six types of modifier buildings to boost your ninja abilities, seven Master Ninja abilities that can be used and four special tokens that you can use to help you out of a jam.
Graphically speaking Ninjatown is a cute-ish cuddly, bubbly look with rounded corners. It’s actually a really cool look for the game and gives ninjas, notoriously un-cuddly, a cute and cuddly side. The whole look and feel of the game carried across the entirety of it quite well and really made the perfect presentation for the tower defense-like game. The graphics aren’t pushing the hardware in the DS but they don’t need to as the cartoonish graphics are all they need to be.
The sound in the game includes a somewhat cartoonish Hong Kong Phooey-esque soundtrack which you’ll eventually tune out. You won’t do it because it’s bad, but you’ll do it because there are many other sounds and you’ll need to focus on the game in order to be successful. So while you might not be paying attention to the sound rest assured it’s there and it’s good.
