[GDN] What are the most popular games currently on GameRanger in each of the three categories (Mac, PC, Cross-platform)?
[SK] On the Mac, Age of Empires III and its expansion The Asian Dynasties top the list, followed by Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour, and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
On the PC, Age of Empires II, Links 2003, Star Trek: Armada, Stronghold: Crusader. These games have had particularly under-served communities that immediately saw the benefits of GameRanger. After those, there’s a pretty even distribution for quite a variety of games. This is great to see because GameRanger is primarily about making it easy to play your friends online, so it’s more about which game you and your friends want to play right now, regardless of whether everyone else is playing it.
Cross-platform, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Ghost Recon: Desert Siege, and Civilization IV are up there.
[GDN] How many active players are there overall and on each platform roughly?
[SK] Without getting into specifics, I’m very pleased with the rapid growth since the PC release a couple of months ago. The PC activity is already higher than the Mac, and jumping higher each day. The response has been great, and users are quite excited in getting their friends to sign up as well.
