When it comes to the graphics you will not be let down. How could you when Mark Guggenheim the Marvel Wolverine comic book writer penned it. The graphics are powered by the Unreal 3 Engine. You will not be let down as you fall from 30,000 feet, take out the tail section of a helicopter, or run across a rope bridge loaded with enemies. Let’s not forget about the health regeneration ability transforming muscle tissue back into skin, and in real time. All of these things plus more seem to go seamlessly as you process throughout the game.
With so many moves you would think that it must be a button beating game, but it’s really not your usual fighting style game. With so many moves available it will be hard to learn to all. I stayed with a limited amount and did just fine. One of my favourites is the lunge ability. You get to jump in the air at great distance and come down upon your prey as an eagle does for its lunch. Don’t worry if that’s not your thing because you still have the blades to dismember the enemy, or even throw them off the cliff. Full motion camera is in your hand to control your vision upon the battlefield.
Sound was defiantly not an afterthought. How could it be when you have the actor s from the actual movie doing the voices in the game? Special effects sounds didn’t lack in this department either. Just sit back and relax as you hear the sounds of limbs being sliced, screams of the enemies’ demise, or just the environment around you.
While the game is not perfect it is a very good game that stays true to the thought of Wolverine. It travels thru the narrative of the film like a spider web. There are only a few cons that I could find. One, sometimes his tank-top is on, and a few seconds later it’s off. Two, you can’t cut the cut scenes short. You must watch it all which is cool the first time thru, but not the second and so on. All in all this is a very good game with epic battles, real-world locales, puzzle solving, jumping into a helicopter only to get on the nose of it and pull the pilot out thru the windshield, and animal instincts to find the truth about Wolverine.
