The sound is great as well. An adrenaline pumping cinematic soundtrack plays out in the background as you, Nathan and his companions make their way through the story. Along with that comes some exceptional voice acting in the way of all of the main characters. The only thing is that in a game this long there are bound to be repetitive sentences and of course there are. Especially when Nathan takes someone out using stealth or is boosting someone up to a higher location. They’re not so cheesy as to make you roll your eyes and groan
, but they are noticeably redundant at times.
The gameplay is fantastic 3D platformer action style from a third-person perspective. It’s quite well done incorporating a functional cover system complete with blind firing, stealth elements and a plethora of weapons. The melee fighting is simple button-mashing which I thought could do with some improvement but there’s nothing like jumping off a low ledge and drop kicking someone into sleepy time or whacking them hard with a riot shield and laying them out for the count. Huh, maybe I have some hidden anger issues.
Aside from a single player storyline of decent length there’s also multiplayer in the game which extends the gameplay and replayability of the title and gives more value for the price. Let’s face it, there are many games these days that simply aren’t worth upwards of $50-70 dollars.
Well Uncharted 2 has this in spades as well. With everything from 1-on-1 to 5-on-5 deathmatch, elimination and
objective-based gameplay. Yes, there’s even co-op objective and arena. Ranked matches? Absolutely. The thing that I didn’t like is the lengthy time it sometimes takes to find a match. But if you want the best match available there are lots of factors to take into account like players skills, ranking and location not to mention network connectivity etc. So that’s a small price to pay. Plus, in between waiting for matches, I managed to write this paragraph.
Alright, that’s about enough. Uncharted 2 Among Thieves certainly grabs the ring on many levels. Superb graphics, sound, story and game options far outweigh the few minor flaws and definitely make this a must have purchase. So with that said, I’ll stop jabbering and let you get on to playing it.
