Whenever there’s a hang up, you’ll find the Spider man.
The combination of the great graphics, totally awesome combat system and the intriguing story (being penned by a Marvel writer) guarantee that this will be not only the best Spider-Man title so far, but will take the bar that all others will be measured by and plant it firmly where only Spider-Man himself might reach it.
The boss battle that I mentioned earlier with the Vulture may very well be the epitome of what combat as Spider-Man should be. It takes combat to the air but in a uniquely Spidey way you have to swing out to attack the Vulture and have to keep a line on him or risk falling a long, long way. They did an excellent job of making it be really cool but it also looks really difficult and some people might have problems with the controls. While I was watching Brian play the level I couldn’t comprehend being successful myself on that level. But then again I don’t have hours of playing the title under my belt either.
You won’t be able to take out a skyscraper or level a city block but there are many items in the game that are destructible and you can pick up phone booths, cars and other things and use them as you see fit.
Finally, Brian let me run around as everyone’s favorite wall crawler and climb on the walls, swing around the town, terrorize the civilians (because I’m evil Spider-Man) and beat up the baddies. All he really did is make me not want to wait until later this year when the title is set to launch on DS, PC, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii and X360.
