You’ll be using the grapple hook quite a bit, so make sure you master it in the tutorials before moving on as you could easily find yourself restarting the level over and over again. This brings up a point about the difficulty levels of the game. There are the 4 standard difficulty sets that each vary in the balance of enemy AI. The problem I find is that the balance might seem a bit unfair to some users.
Bionic Commando is simply a side-scroller going back to the classic days of gaming. The control set up is pretty basic. You have one button for your weapon and one for your grapple hook. The most difficult thing you could master is the grapple merely because of the various uses.
While it will take the less experienced gamers some time to master, veterans shouldn’t have too much of a problem getting through each level in which the different combinations of the grapple hook are used. At certain points during the game you’ll reach bases that have advanced tutorial areas where you can increase your skill using that grapple hook, which will help you in the long run. The Commando himself will gain new equipment after every boss battle to help you move on to the next level and beyond. The button interface is mapped our nicely to make use of these pick-ups, so use them wisely. You lose health quick, so make sure you also find health pick-ups along the way as well.
