Bionic Commando: Rearmed Review
Posted by Jereme Mr. Evil Puik, 130 days ago

You’ll be using the grapple hook quite a bit, so make sure you master it in the tutorials before moving on as you could easily find yourself restarting the level over and over again. This brings up a point about the difficulty levels of the game. There are the 4 standard difficulty sets that each vary in the balance of enemy AI. The problem I find is that the balance might seem a bit unfair to some users.

Bionic Commando is simply a side-scroller going back to the classic days of gaming. The control set up is pretty basic. You have one button for your weapon and one for your grapple hook. The most difficult thing you could master is the grapple merely because of the various uses.

While it will take the less experienced gamers some time to master, veterans shouldn’t have too much of a problem getting through each level in which the different combinations of the grapple hook are used. At certain points during the game you’ll reach bases that have advanced tutorial areas where you can increase your skill using that grapple hook, which will help you in the long run. The Commando himself will gain new equipment after every boss battle to help you move on to the next level and beyond. The button interface is mapped our nicely to make use of these pick-ups, so use them wisely. You lose health quick, so make sure you also find health pick-ups along the way as well.

Our Rating for Bionic Commando: Rearmed Review
7.5
Replay
Because of the difficulty of the game overall, it might be hard for some gamers to return.
8.0
Graphics
A fresh look gives this classic new life in the next-generation. 3d animation works almost flawlessly on the 2d plane.
8.0
Sound
Simple sound effects give the game a more distinct nature. Its overall sounds might bring back memories from the NES days.
7.0
Gameplay
It might be difficult for some gamers to grasp a hold of. The grapple hook takes a while to get used too and to master the many challenges it presents through each level.
8.0
Multiplayer
Found it to be very addicting at times and can be either frustrating or exciting as every gamer is different.
7.9
Overall
Bionic Commando Rearmed is fun and great for a gamer looking for a challenge. If you’re new to the series, you won’t go wrong checking this out. The difficulty might stray some away, but it gets better over time.
