The 3d/2d nature of the game provides an interesting look and is a nice turn for the game. The graphics give it a very distinct visual style that is missed during this generation of gaming where all we are treated too are grays and browns. There are vibrant colors in each level giving them their own unique sense of environment. The overall animated feel of the game is modeled on a 2D plane and this is about the best 3d environment on a 2d plane you could see on Xbox Live Arcade. Characters are vividly detailed and every aspect of Bionic Commando is brought to life.
The sound brings us old timers back to the golden days of 8 bit caliber tracks that would resonate in our minds and hum in the middle of the day. Bionic Commando: Rearmed does an excellent job of combining the old and mixing the new to keep it fresh and inviting. Each level has its own distinct track to go with it, so you are not stuck with the same generic techno tune that you might be hearing over and over again.
So, what one can say about Bionic Commando: Rearmed is that it is one difficult remake/sequel. There are entertaining aspects of it and frustration all wrapped up into an 800 point package. The multiplayer should be the one component to keep you tied to the title. Although, I did rather find myself attached to the tutorials as they prove to be challenging giving the time limits and your obsession to gain 5 stars in the rankings and earn a greater high score. Capcom continues to deliver and give us quality with each release. If this keeps up, who knows how excited any of will be with when the upcoming release of Street Fighter IV hits.
