Defying the usual laws of RPG M&B has scrapped the fantasy realms of monsters and magic and created what is a completely earthly title which has plenty of reference to history which you’ll find on your library’s shelves, it relies purely on medieval combat without the need to spice it up with spell books and wizardry meaning that this adventure has a character which is different, it’s unique, and hasn’t succumbed to the rules and regulations of the RPG world.

Everything has been done differently here and though it does take patience and effort, Mount & Blade will reward those that can bring themselves to break through the early stages. A visual spectacle with innovation in the right places, a depth to the adventure which will rival the titles that top your gaming charts at a humble price, every time I felt M&B was lacking somewhat it would surprise me with a counter-attack and this proves that the guys that make games for passion are worth checking out.

If you’re patient and willing then you’ve found a new favourite, but be prepared to get frustrated with the minor flaws that hinder your progress. Characteristic and unique and different every time you start a new story, M&B will offer you a cheap alternative to the blockbuster and keep you busy for an eternity.

Our Rating for Mount & Blade Review
0.1
Replay
Every story is new. Every time you begin you enter an entirely different realm of possibility
8.2
Graphics
While the map is shoddy and drags the score down a little the rest of the graphics are pretty keen to behold
6.5
Sound
Probably the major failing point of the title. No Voice acting and very little soundtrack.
7.5
Gameplay
Generally well done and while you might be frustrated in the beginning it picks up as you keep going
0.1
Multiplayer
N/A
7.9
Overall
A sound title for the price and a shining example that the indie developers can indeed make both a good game and a difference. This title will ride into the sunset with the RPG crowd looking to cast off magic.

I was really suprised at the face that the game doesn’t have any voiceovers, but at least the title looks like it is pretty fun. Definately something I will consider picking up in my spare time.
