You go through 15 unique cases, although I understand that there are plans to make more cases available through both free and commercial expansion packs. Here in lies one of the problems with this game, once you have solved the cases and played all the mini-games available within each level you are pretty much done... there is no real reason to go back and replay a level. It is not like there is going to be a different outcome if you do... I was, however, glad to read that there are plans for expansion packs and will be interested to see how that plays out.
There were a couple of bugs within this game such as having to restart the game because the ’next scene’ button seems to mysteriously disappear mid-game. There was an online option to this game but I could never get it to work for some reason. It would come up that I would need to install a plug in, although once you had downloaded the plug-in it didn’t install correctly. If the developer gets issues like this resolved this could be a very cool and original game.
This is a very narrative-driven game and I did find myself getting caught up in the story line and wanting to pursue it to find out what the outcome would be. Curiously though some mini-games have got nothing to do with what is happening in the game and seem to be as a vehicle to give you money if you win them. There’s a Bejeweled type game where you have to clear every space on the board before the time runs out, and a picture-re-arranger game featuring photos you have taken previously. In another game you have to fill in the missing letter in a hangman-type style in order for you to decipher what a text of a letter says.
By far my favourite was the polygraph game where you are given the suspects response to two questions. One of the questions they answer truthfully and one they lie. You then have to go through a series of questions and say whether the suspect is being truthful or not. Depending on how many of them you get correct determines how much money is then made available to you to use in your surveillance.
With the option of downloading a free online demo of this game and giving it a try and also the fact that to download the full version is very attractively priced, what have you got to lose with this game??
