Righteous Kill Review - PC
Posted by Billy Turrican Withers, 85 days ago

I’ll delve into the gameplay side later on, but let’s get on with the graphics. The cut scenes are a bit iffy and come across like a very bad soap opera, with the characters movement looks like there’s a little gremlin hidden at the bottom of your monitor moving the little cut outs across the screen for you just because he’s bored. These don’t appear very often though, which is good. The rest of the game is pretty much a single screen affair, with some nicely realised backdrops and items contained within. The other mini games are also nice to look at, considering the nature of the title itself. There’s still that feeling inside your gut screaming “there could have been just a little more effort” though and it doesn’t take a veteran cop to uncover that revelation.

Then we get to the special Audio Unit - Resident Evil Division. There is a very good reason I say it like this and it’s because the voice acting is just as downright cringe worthy as the original Playstation version of Capcom’s survival horror hit. Every time someone starts yakking away about something I just wait for someone to mention Jill being the master of unlocking again. The music’s even worse and I would strongly advise anyone who plays this to switch it off as soon as you can. This is mainly because it will have driven you round the twist before five minutes have even set in, as it repeats more than a comedy re-run. The ambience isn’t bad though and the effects do their job well enough. It’s just a shame that the rest of it isn’t, but what can you do, eh?

Our Rating for Righteous Kill Review - PC
6.5
Replay
Does things ok, but I feel the tediousness of the same level style and not enough variety might scare off some people.
7.0
Graphics
The backdrops and set screens are good, but the “atmospheric” cut scenes are just annoying.
5.5
Sound
Other than some decent ambiance the rest of it is just as criminal as the perp you’re trying to catch.
6.5
Gameplay
Decent if played through right, tragically short and silly if not. Some penalties for incorrect use would have greatly helped.
0.1
Multiplayer

6.5
Overall
Had the makings of a decent game for the patient generation, but without the things in place to have it played right, it fails to be consistent. A bit more work would have made a huge difference.
