Ok, the gameplay. It’s not too bad, but it only works well if you play the game it’s meant to be. Think of the game as a word search, but instead of words, it’s items and you get an idea of what is required in each level. At the left of the screen there’s a time limit and a UV scanner, as well as your checklist of things to find. If you play the game correctly and only click the mouse button on something you find which is actually ON THE LIST, then there’s a nice game to be had here. If you play Righteous Kill as if you’re using the left mouse button to swat a fly however, by clicking it on everything on screen as quickly as possible, you will then find yourself eliminating most of the items in about a minute and therefore taking any skill element away from what’s in front of you. A time penalty for each incorrect press would have been a great addition to this game as it would stop the impatient from breezing through this game as fast as possible. Some of the items really do require the UV scanner to find and even when you do see them, it’s a bit hard to distinguish just how you’re meant to see them, but I guess it’s the reason for being there in the first place.

The other games which break Righteous Kill up are pretty good and can sometimes be a lot more fun. They involve piecing together ripped up evidence, finding fingerprints on clues and isolating a phone signal. In an ideal world these would have been in equal measure with the main style of game on offer, but I just feel there aren’t enough of them.

Our Rating for Righteous Kill Review - PC
6.5
Replay
Does things ok, but I feel the tediousness of the same level style and not enough variety might scare off some people.
7.0
Graphics
The backdrops and set screens are good, but the “atmospheric” cut scenes are just annoying.
5.5
Sound
Other than some decent ambiance the rest of it is just as criminal as the perp you’re trying to catch.
6.5
Gameplay
Decent if played through right, tragically short and silly if not. Some penalties for incorrect use would have greatly helped.
0.1
Multiplayer

6.5
Overall
Had the makings of a decent game for the patient generation, but without the things in place to have it played right, it fails to be consistent. A bit more work would have made a huge difference.
