[GDN] Speaking of economic downturn I see the per user license is rather steep for Perforce, $18,000 for just 20 users. What is the return oninvestment turnaround time? Can companies afford this initial outlay right now?
Perforce has the most open pricing around and there are no hidden extras. The initial price of $900 per “human user” (“non-human” or background process users are not charged for) includes the first year’s support and maintenance; thereafter the organisation can choose to renew these or not. Perforce will continue to work forever, even if the support and / or maintenance is not renewed.
As a user of Perforce, I can talk to as many Perforce Servers as my company allows me access to, through as many Perforce Proxies (for distributed caching), from as many computers or workstations (on any operating system) using as many client applications or integrations as I need to do my job. All of this is included in the price.
Perforce is significantly cheaper than other commercial systems and in most cases the cost of ownership makes Perforce cheaper than open source systems as well.
GDN wants to thank Mr. Robertson for his time as well as Jane Lee at Dexterity Consulting for setting everything up. For more information visit Perforce’s website.
