Verbatim Rapier V2 Review

Posted by Christophor Rick, 343 days ago

In regards to usage the mouse performing admirably. The placement of the DPI speed switch means your finger never needs to leave the ‘trigger’ of the left mouse button as it can be easily reached with your index finger. The second middle switch however is difficult to find and depress during any type of action. The thumb buttons are ideally placed so that the pad of your thumb rests in the center of them and a rocking motion of the tip of your thumb will depress one or the other. The left and right buttons on the Rapier V2 are responsive and quick.

On the underside of the Verbatim Rapier V2 are two panels which hide away the weight system. With two slots in the front of the mouse and five to the rear to place the included weights and give the mouse more heft. Now as I’ve stated I like a heavier mouse and even with the seven 4.5 gram weights in the unit it was still a little light. It wasn’t distracting and didn’t hamper performance or feel at all but I’m used to my heavier Cyber Snipa Stinger which also has seven weights but of a larger size (20g each) which may sound extremely heavy but it’s not.

The two panels that hide the weight system are reversible and offer you two choices. Each has one large what looks to be Teflon coated foot while on the other side if offers two smaller feet. You can use these in any combination and I found that I preferred both of the larger feet as it gave a quicker smoother glide across the mousemat.

The Verbatim Rapier V2 is a good effort and a solid performer. It’s feature-rich and has much to offer the everyday gamer. However with the larger, higher back portion of the mouse you might find yourself slightly uncomfortable if you’re like me and don’t use a wrist rest.

Our Rating for Verbatim Rapier V2 Review
8.0
Feel
While more comfortable overall than its cousin the Rapier V1, it caused my wrist to ache from time-to-time due to the high angle on the back part. Use a wrist rest.
8.5
Usability
The weight system, macros, and button configuration are nice. Aside from some minor issues with one center button and still being a little light, it’s a very solid option.
8.5
Overall
It’s bigger and better than the V1 but could still use a little redesign in the weights and shaping of the mouse body. Overall it’s an excellent gaming mouse if you’re one who uses a wrist rest when you game.
