Age of Booty offers a twenty-one challenge single player experience that gives you seven challenges in three levels of difficulty. Once you’ve mastered that you can move on to the multiplayer which can be done via Xbox LIVE, system link or locally. While the single player missions are fun and challenging and took a good deal of time to accomplish, the multiplayer is where this game shines. With up to eight players in up to eight factions it can make for some exciting last moment wins and fast-paced online fun. The game supports voice chat which is important so you and your teammates can organize your strategy as you play against others.

If you don’t like the stock maps that are available, and there are many, you can make your own with the map editor. There’s even an achievement for making and saving a map. The map editor was easy to use and making the map took only fifteen or twenty minutes. It allows for unending variety in the game play and means that as others make maps there will be more and more available as time goes on.

From beginning to end this game commanded my attention and the multiplayer options will continue to do so in between other game reviews and more. It is truly a solid performer in all categories and aside from not being able to give your computer-controlled mateys commands from time to time, the game is a resounding success. I suggest that everyone with Xbox LIVE download the demo and try it out.
