It is time that Rockstar Games quit milking GTA3 for all it is worth, and just move onto the next game, GTA4. This is basically just Vice City rewrapped into a shiny new package for the PSP owners, but for a PS2 game it is about average. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of the series, but there’s only so many times that the exact same thing can be done over and over before you need huge changes to save the series. I will say that I am glad they have not cowered at the face of all the lawsuits the GTA series gets brought against it, and left the violence level high, as the series is known for.
For fans of the GTA game series, this game is at least worth the price of a rental. If you’ve never played a GTA game, then I’d suggest the original Vice City over this one, I personally found it to be more fun. If this game had something really new to offer, even if they had expanded the map of Vice City a bit more, then it would have been better. The $20 price tag on the PS2 version is nice however. This makes it very nice for those looking to purchase a game on a low budget. I saw the new trailer for GTA 4, and it looked damned nice. Here’s to hoping it can make as much of an impact on the console gaming world as GTA 3 did when it was first released.
