AAAAA! through the fingers of a non-gamer!

Posted by DEVDejobaan, 271 days ago Dec 31, 1969 19:00

SHAMELESS PLUG SECTION: If you haven't played the newest demo, from the pre-release, stop reading and go here.

The feedback on AAAAA! from avid gamers has been extremely positive. Although we never set out to create a casual game, we wanted to know if the game would appeal to non-gamers like your grandma or that neighbor who thinks video games are the '88 olympics on beta-max. To formally test the game we asked our Biz Dev director to play the game and tell us what he thought. His most recent animated interactive adventure was super mario brothers so he was a reasonable target. Here is a 2 level walk-through in his words. Please forgive any inaccuracies in his use of video game terminology :-)

Demo Level 1 - We Really Shouldn't Pamper You:

This level really helped ease me into the game. Having never played any games with WASD (who picks these buttons???) keys, it took a little getting used to but I soon settled in on the arrow keys. One of the earliest screens I encountered - the dreaded crash screen...

To get a second opinion, I actually gave the game to my girlfriend - she grew up in the soviet Union so never had access to games as a kid. I asked her for her first impression and for her favorite level:

Her response:

"This is really faaaast and why am I flying where I'm flying? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

...took me a while to understand that you just press the arrows, not hold on them arrow keys"

I bet the green accelerator plates didn't help her much :-)

Demo level 2 - Focus on Partial Nudity:

After getting through the first level without too much difficulty, I settled in on "Focus on Partial Nudity." It took me 6 tries before I found the inspiration for the name. You'd think as biz dev guy for the game I'd kow it intimately...I did not but was quite tickled when I saw this:

This is one of my favorite parts of the level, but some other gamers have not been so excited. Here is a what they are saying:

"...would it be possible to have at least a possibility to play this game which shouldn't even normally include any kind of "sexy", without this kind of ads ?"

Chime in on our blog to tell us what you think.

Next up, I unlocked the Flip-It glove. I am looking forward to using it, but first, I need to collect more teeth.
