In an announcement, the developers of the self-titled post-apocalyptic MMO Fallen Earth released the names of fifteen cities in the running for the next stop on the company’s grassroots tour. The contest provides fans the opportunity to determine a destination on the national tour by sending their text-based votes to the Fallen Earth team.

Cities contending for a spot on the tour are:
  • Atlanta, Ga.
  • Columbus, Ohio
  • Denver, Colo.
  • Kansas City, Kan.
  • Los Angeles, Calif.
  • Manchester, N.H.
  • Milwaukee, Wis.
  • Minneapolis, Minn.
  • Nashville, Tenn.
  • New York, N.Y.
  • Oklahoma City, Okla.
  • Orlando, Fla.
  • Philadelphia, Pa.
  • Phoenix, Ariz.
  • Portland, Ore.

Official rules for participation can be found on the Fallen Earth Web site.

Scheduled for May 2, 2009, the event will give players a chance to meet the development team, demo Fallen Earth and collect an exclusive in-game item. With previous stops in Raleigh, N.C., Baltimore, Md. and San Francisco, Calif., the tour also provides the development team with direct feedback from fans.

“We’ve gotten awesome feedback from our fans through the closed beta, and taking the game on the road lets us actually meet them,” said Lee Hammock, lead game designer for Fallen Earth. “Letting fans choose the tour stop gives us a chance to meet those folks who don’t get out to our usual haunts and see what they think of the game.”

Fallen Earth is a massively multiplayer online game that strategically combines first-person shooter and traditional role-playing game designs. Set in the Grand Canyon after a lethal disease destroyed most of mankind, Fallen Earth features 70 towns, six competing factions, a classless advancement system and a crafting system in which players can make 95 percent of game items.

The contest runs through April 16, 2009, and the winning tour location will be announced on the Fallen Earth Web site on April 17. Fallen Earth is currently in closed beta testing and is set to launch later this year.  For more information about the contest or to participate in closed beta testing, visit www.fallenearth.com.
