According to a tweet and a pic from Robert Bowling, the Director of Communications / Community Manager for Infinity Ward, Call of Duty has been added back onto the name of Modern Warfare 2.

Earlier this year, at GDC 09, Activision made it a point to state that it was not a Call of Duty franchise. A rep told Gamespot then, "All I can tell you (officially) at this point is that Modern Warfare has taken on such a life of its own, it has become our focus now, at this point, it’s too early to release additional details."

Even as recently as two weeks ago, OTX had published a survey about how dropping the Call of Duty from the name could hurt it’s brand recognition. According to the results of the survey, that the game had dropped by 20% in consumer awareness levels since dropping Call of Duty from its name.

Did Activision and Infinity Ward get wise and decided to add the Call of Duty moniker again, or is this just a misprint?
