VIZIO Announces 120Hz LCD HDTVs with MEMC and Side Access HD Game Port
Posted by Wade "TNT" Hinkle, 336 days ago Jan 6, 2008 15:46

VIZIO, America’s Fastest Growing HDTV Company, announced today a new line of 1080p, flat panel displays with 120Hz processing with MEMC (Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation). The new "Black Tie" VIZIO SV42LF-42" LCD and SV47LF-47" will bear four HDMI inputs, Full 1080p resolution, 120Hz processing, Motion Estimation Motion Compensation (MEMC), and side access HD Game Port with HDMI. The new SV42LF and SV47LF will begin shipping in July 2008 with estimated selling prices of $1499 and $1899 respectively.

Both Black Tie models benefit from the inclusion of MEMC (Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation), a breakthrough in video processing that eliminates motion blur in LCD TVs. Using the latest panel technology, 120 frames per second (fps) is generated from regular 50/60Hz broadcast content. MEMC also offers a cutting edge film motion solution that is an important new process for high definition DVDs because it converts film that was originally shot at 24 fps, for proper viewing at a frame rate of 120Hz. MEMC increases the frame rate using complex algorithms to generate additional frames. Since judder and motion blur are more visible on larger screens, such as 32-inch and bigger TVs, the use of MEMC is critical for delivering the best picture performance possible from any video input format.

"Full 1080p resolution has certainly come of age, especially as lower cost, next generation HD disc players and games make their way into the warehouse and department store channels," says Laynie Newsome, vice president sales at VIZIO, Inc. "The Black Tie series is just one example of the best-of- breed products VIZIO will bring to market in 2008 as we continue to offer consumers the widest selection of HDTVs with state-of-the art performance and features."

VIZIO’s high performance LCD Black Tie products will feature sleek new industrial design frames with a brushed aluminum accent below the bottom of a thin, piano black bezel. The slimmer bezel provides a distinctive and sophisticated look resulting in a greater proportion of the television being the LCD screen itself. When viewed with advanced video processing of 120Hz with MEMC and 6500:1 contrast ratio, the Full 1920x1080 - 1080p resolution allows for exceptionally deep, rich blacks and extraordinarily brilliant colors.

Offering the ultimate in convenience, the Black Tie models have included a side access High Definition Game Port housing 2x HDMI v1.3 inputs and Component Video/RCA Stereo audio for fast access to high-definition gaming systems such as XBox 360 and PlayStation 3. Black Tie models include a standard/HDTV/QAM combination tuner, RF Input, are compatible with 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i input sources and a detachable base to accommodate on-wall mounting.

Available through consumer electronics retailers such as Circuit City and Sears, the SV42LF and SV47LF have on-board Dolby 3.0 processing and are compatible with the SV5.1 Upgrade Kit that adds 5.1 surround sound functionality with the inclusion of rear channel speakers and a wireless subwoofer. Both include the new brushed aluminum-trimmed VUR8 Universal Learning Remote with Picture-In-Picture keys, handsomely designed to control an entire A/V system.

These VIZIO Black Tie models along with other new VIZIO product introductions will be shown in the VIZIO suite at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas during the International CES 2008.
