Penny Arcade Expo 2008 Opens its Virtual Doors to the Teeming Masses
Posted by Wade "TNT" Hinkle, 313 days ago Jan 29, 2008 20:02

Today, creators of the web comic Penny Arcade once again flung open the doors to their Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) website, announcing that pre-registration has begun for the 5th annual PAX gaming festival to be held August 29 – 31, 2008 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle, WA. "Early Bird" pre-registration at www.pennyarcadeexpo.com will be open until March 31, allowing purchase of a
three-day attendee badge at the price of $40, a 20% discount on the day-of rate. In addition to discounted badges, pre-registrants are eligible to compete in the annual Omegathon gaming competition, where one winner will take home top honors; past prizes have included extensive gaming libraries, a new car, and even an all-expenses-paid trip to the Tokyo Game Show.

Last year’s impressive program of playable game builds from top publishers, keynote address from noted geek icon Wil Wheaton, rocking music concerts and in-depth industry panels drew over 37,000 attendees to the expo; this year’s PAX is expected to surpass that record, straining at the seams with gamers and industry enthusiasm. "We’re super excited," says Penny Arcade’s Robert Khoo. "We throw what’s essentially this giant party every year, and we feel incredibly grateful that the community has really embraced the show. With
the content we’re already planning for 2008, we think it’s going to be the best year ever."

Further information on exhibitors and events will be available in February.

Game industry professionals interested in exhibiting at PAX 2007 should contact Mike Fehlauer at mikef@penny-arcade.com.
