Multi-Platform entertainment content publisher, Connect2Media, has announced a major signing in the form of legendary music/puzzle/gaming fusion franchise Lumines. The company will be bringing new versions of Lumines to mobile platforms in 2010 and are already working with major dance music labels to provide content for the games.
Created by Tetsuya Mizuguchi and his company, Japan based Q Entertainment, Lumines is a block dropping puzzle defined by it’s innovative use of ‘skins’ that theme the game in terms of look and soundtrack. New skins provide new visuals and music tracks, and the game is played at a matching pace, making the music integral to the gameplay. Since the first version of the game in 2003 the brand has become a critically acclaimed franchise and spawned PSP, PC, Xbox, PlayStation 2, XBLA, PlayStation Network and iPhone versions.
“Lumines is a unique product,” said CEO Eric Hobson. “With the work we did on the Guitar Hero franchise, in the last couple of years, we established the fact that popular music games could really thrive on mobile devices. Now, with Lumines, we are set to take advantage of advances in technology and create a new benchmark in mobile music led games.”
Creator of Lumines, Tetsuya Mizuguchi, said “We are very excited about working with Connect2Media on Lumines. They have a truly global reach, expertise and record of innovation on mobile platforms that matches our philosophy at Q.”
