Ben 10: Alien Force Game Creator Lands on CartoonNetwork.com to Massive Viewer Adoption and Record Game Play

Cartoon Networks avid Ben 10 fan base launched more than 380,000 new online games in one week at CN.com with Ben 10: Alien Force Game Creator, Cartoon Network New Medias first online game to incorporate user-generated content. The user-generated game hit the site May 5 and garnered more than 20 million game plays its first week online, outstripping the sites previous debut-week game play record of 5 million set in March by Ben 10 Alien Force: Forever Defense.

The games immediate success also yielded record-breaking unique visitors numbers for CartoonNetwork.com with more than 1 million unique visitors every day for the week of May 5-11. The site hit a record high for the week beginning May 4, with more than 5 million unique visitors. Saturday May 10, CartoonNetwork.com clocked 1.5 million unique visitors, a single-day record.

Specific CartoonNetwork.com highlights since the debut of Ben 10: Alien Force Game Creator include the following:

  • 384,109 Ben 10: Alien Force Game Creator games created
  • 20,293,876 Game Creator game plays
  • 5,317,993 unique visitors for the week beginning May 4

(Data from internal Omniture statistics.)

Ben 10 fans as well as online gaming fans have embraced this new build-your-own game in droves, validating Cartoon Networks conviction that kids recognize the value of immersive and sophisticated games, said Molly Chase, vice president and executive producer of Cartoon Network New Media. Our online fans are building and sharing this game and enjoying an unprecedented level of interaction with both a favorite show and their fellow fans. We see this type of game as a wave of the future for the online gaming market and have already begun work on expanding the experience to feature another popular network franchise.

What is most impressive is the quality of the games that kids are creating, said Art Roche, Cartoon Network New Media creative director. The execution of this new game creator concept has been remarkable so far and it shows that kids truly enjoy creative online activities.

Ben 10 games currently dominate the top 10 most popular games at CartoonNetwork.com, holding five of the top 10 spots, including Ben 10: Alien Force Forever Defense at No. 2; Ben 10: Alien Force Action Packs at No. 3; Ben 10: Battle Ready at No. 4 and Ben 10: Cannonbolt Pinball at No. 5.

Ben 10: Alien Force premiered Friday, April 18, 2008 at 8 p.m. (ET, PT), and was the most-watched original series premiere in Cartoon Network history. Ben 10: Alien Force begins the next chapter in the continuing Ben 10 saga five years later when 15-year-old Ben Tennyson chooses to once again put on the OMNITRIX and discovers that it has reconfigured his DNA and can now transform him into 10 brand new aliens. Joined by his super-powered cousin Gwen Tennyson and his equally powerful former enemy Kevin Levin, Ben is on a mission to find his missing Grandpa Max. In order to save his Grandpa, Ben must defeat the evil DNALIENS, a powerful alien race intent on destroying the galaxy, starting with planet Earth.
