Player X cuts the mustard as it brings in Phil Cooke as CTO
Posted by Spanner, 189 days ago May 21, 2008 06:50

Award-winning mobile media company Player X has appointed industry veteran Phil Cooke as CTO.

Cooke’s role will be to boost Player X’s distribution and aggregation services for global carriers and content providers. He will run the company’s technical strategy as it expands its portal management and hosting services.

Phil was previously CTO of mobile games publisher I-Play where he oversaw the development of solutions for client- and server-based mobile games. In addition to game development and porting frameworks, he initiated and managed a number of projects related to content management, delivery and merchandising of mobile games and applications.

Phil has more than 25 years’ experience in software development fulfilling commercial and R&D roles. He made important contributions in the early development of hypertext technology and later as part of Panasonic’s overseas R&D organisation, he managed key projects in the development of DVD-Video.

“We are delighted to have Phil on board. He is probably the most sought-after CTO in the mobile industry and he will play a very important role in taking this company to the next level,” said Tony Pearce, Player X CEO.

Phil has an undergraduate degree in Astrophysics from Edinburgh University and a postgraduate research degree in Radio Astronomy.
