PlayFast Tech Allows Gamers to Play AnyPC Game to a Browser While Downloading Content

This came into the news office and could have some interesting ramifications for the future of gaming in that it could do away with some physical sales and boost the already skyrocketing digital delivery method. Of course there are some limiting factors like bandwidth, available Internet connection, etc. PlayFast tech

PlayFast announced an update to its technology enabling any PC game to be embedded in a web page and streamed to consumer desktops. As a result, players can start experiencing the game before it has been completely downloaded, making getting into the game faster and easier than ever before.

PlayFast’s PlayNow Browser Technology takes PC games and delivers them to the browser by prioritizing and streaming the game content. The technology enables publishers and developers to monetize existing catalogs and add new revenue streams to both online and offline PC games.

PlayFast also has streaming download technology that addresses the increasing size of game downloads, which is one of the greatest challenges for the online games market today. By reducing the size of the download necessary to being played, download abandonment is significantly reduced and players quickly get into the game.

They’re not the first to offer the ability to play while the game downloads but they are the first to offer the gameplay embedded in a browser apparently. The only question that remains is, what limitations would be placed on the controls and the visual quality. They have partnered with some online games already like Granado Espada (a great MMORPG), Counter-Strike Online and Ragnarok.
