Featured New Releases:

Eisley – Deep Space
The DuPree clan is back again with a new EP, nearly a year after the release of their last full length, The Valley. The sister and cousin foursome has been a staple in the genre for years, leading a charge of female powered bands. While originally slated to be tracks scrapped from The Valley, it was instead re-focused as a first batch of songs for their next album, which they will start recording later this year. For a band that has more EPs than they do full-length albums, it seems a concentrated effort to write when they are inspired and release when they’re ready, instead of the process being in a vacuum. Lucky for us, that means new music all the time.
If You Like: The Cranberries, Vedera, The Hush Sound
Recommended Track: “One Last Song”

Islands – A Sleep & A Forgetting
With a name like Islands, you may lump them into “chillwave”, a genre occupied by bands like The Morning Benders, Best Coast and Beach Fossils – and you may be right. Many of the tracks teeter that line of somber aesthetic laced with cheery guitar chords, but also dip into piano and guitar infused tracks like “Come to Light” and electronic tones like “Can’t Feel My Face.” An album that began after the end of a relationship on Valentine’s Day and is finding a new beginning, of course, on Valentine’s Day.
If You Like: The Black Keys, Sunset Rubdown, Real Estate
Recommended Track: “Can’t Feel My Face”

Amos Lee – As the Crow Flies
B-side and “remix” albums are pretty commonplace these days, with artists squeezing out the last bit of juice from their full-length records. However, considering these were shelved tracks from the #1 album Mission Bell, they are hardly b-sides. Lee’s prolific background proves that anything he records is quality, not to mention having a helping hand from desert-dwellers, Calexico. A winter-released EP with song for summer days, his warm vocals have become iconic in the genre, and welcomed any time of the year.
If You Like: Ray LaMontagne, James Morrison, Ryan Adams
Recommended Track: Say Goodbye
