Q Entertainment Adapts Top Casual Game for Nintendo Handheld in North America; Europe Set To Follow
After months of speculation, PopCap Games, today confirmed the company’s hit peg-popping game Peggle will be available for the Nintendo DS later this year. During his keynote presentation at CGA Seattle yesterday, PopCap CEO David Roberts provided an early glimpse of the DS version of Peggle, which is expected to be made available in North America late 2008.
To bring Peggle to the world’s most popular handheld gaming device, PopCap has partnered with Q Entertainment, the acclaimed Japanese development studio. Plans to take Peggle DS to market in Europe are not yet confirmed although the company is set to start talks with European publishers shortly. Mark Cochrane, Business Development Director, PopCap Games said: "Q Entertainment is a great match with PopCap as the two companies share similar development values namely innovation, attention to detail and the desire to create the highest quality videogames. These attributes will be equally important as we set out to find the right publishing partner for Peggle DS in Europe."
Precise details of the forthcoming DS version of Peggle are not yet available, but the game is expected to feature more levels than any existing version of the game - including DS-exclusive levels - and will also offer re-mastered input controls and a wealth of surprise additions sure to please die-hard fans and novice players alike. Q Entertainment is already underway with the adaptation of Peggle, and will be adding numerous features and functionality elements to the DS version that are not available in the existing PC, Mac or iPod versions of the game
