Video Games Ripping off the Music Industry
Posted by Wade "TNT" Hinkle, 109 days ago Aug 7, 2008 22:40

According to a reuters.com article, Warner Music Chief Executive Edgar Bronfman feels "The amount being paid to the music industry, even though their games are entirely dependent on the content we own and control, is far too small."

Apparently there are not enough young teenagers downloading songs, and now the music industry is looking for new victims to sink their teeth into. It seems like just yesterday that the music industry was hauling people into court by the truck loads , trying to wring every last cent out of them, or threatening jail time.

With the success of Guitar Hero, Rock Band and though he may not have mentioned it Im sure sound tracks were included in this quote, it doesnt suprise me that this is happening. The music industry was the prized fighter just raking in the money, for years and years, but now the video game companies are the champs and the worst part about it for the music industry is that the future is brightly shining.

Is it just another attempt for them to try and get a piece of the pie? Why are we whining now? At some point somewhere there was a piece of paper that at least two people had to sign for these games to be able to happen. Apparently, at the time of agreeing to this contract, everthing was fine. Otherwise, why sign the papers?

So is this just another futile attempt to feel sorry for the industry? Remember the last group you went after were virtually defenseless when it came to your law warchest. Now your up against companies, who save money just for these occasions, and can take the punch and dish it right back. Maybe you should slink back to your posh office, keep quiet and go back to chasing those pesky teenagers again.
