Each year, Game Developer magazine compiles a list of the top 20 publishers in the games industry, and this years list has just been revealed by the magazine’s sister online publication, Gamasutra.
The report is compiled using a variety of industry based measurements, inculding annual turnover, number of releases, average review score, an anonymous reputation survey and detailed anonymous feedback from those who had worked directly with the publisher.
It seems Nintendo has managed to hold onto last year’s number one spot, which is something of an achievement considering it knocked Electronics Arts from the top in 2007 based mainly on console sales. This year’s list also shows a strong lean toward console development, demonstrating an overall, blanket success of the current generation of systems - though it could make some developers a tad shy of investing in big money PC concepts.
