For unexplained reasons, Eidos has moved the release for Just Cause 2 into 2009 - with no further details on quite when that might be. The first game faired quite well, but the public were made aware of a great many features that were actually removed from the final release. The sequel, however, promises to put them all back, along with a host of other additions apparently gleamed from user comments.
In all likelihood, it’s this broadening of scope that’s pushed Just Cause 2 beyond its intended 2008 release schedule, reportedly with new features including greater use of chaos and rampage potential, a new targeting system that allows you to aim at individual limbs, improved enemy AI and enough growth of power to eventually oppose entire governments. Essentially, everything Just Cause was advertised as, but mostly failed to deliver on.
Provided it lives up to the impressive intentions of developer Avalanche Studios, the gaming public is generally pretty forgiving about these things.
