Exodus from the Earth Review (PC)

Posted by ,

Item reviewed: Exodus from the Earth on

Upon installation of Exodus from the Earth by Strategy First and Parallax Studios, I was pretty impressed with the graphics it looked like a lot of time and attention had been paid to detail with buildings and characters alike. The story starts with you (Frank Rixon) getting called back from your annual holiday early because humanity is in crisis, that great big ball of fire we know as the sun only has 20 years left and with no habitable planets for us to move to without some magical injection which makes us able to live on other planets. A company called the A.X Corporation capitalizes on this by making  it financial meaning that most of humanity can’t be saved, just the ones who can afford it. So Frank is sent in to save the day.

You start off in usual subtle style by walking into the main reception of the company’s head office and manufacturing site and security is tight with one of the main executives doing a tour of the compound, your only way past the guards is talking to one of the engineers who can get you in. The first few stages get you used to interacting with people, your weapon controls and your environment. Things usually have a blue square around them in the beginning; mostly handhelds, security cameras and forklifts which can give you relevant information on the company and help you move things out of the way so you can proceed.

The relative gameplay course seems mapped out straight away, with you having to do things on a set route and being part of a story rather than the gamer making it their own. As you progress through the stages it does get harder which means you do die and you end up repeating areas a lot which in itself can get rather annoying. If the developers had thought of several ways of getting through each stage rather than just the one it could have made things a little more exciting, but unfortunately this is one of the main factors that put me off the game.

Our Rating for Exodus from the Earth Review (PC)
4.4
Replay
The whole having to make save points and repeating yourself does get annoying and there’s no freedom of choice.
7.2
Graphics
There’s a lot of attention to detail and very intricate layouts, generally well done.
6.3
Sound
The music was mostly entertainment in between load screens, there wasn’t too much of it during game play until things started to get heated to add drama.
4.6
Gameplay
Very monotonous with set routes already mapped out meaning if you die you have to repeat yourself until you complete the stage which can get very frustrating
4.3
Multiplayer/Online Content
Multiplayer does look like it could be fun but there was no one on the server to play against.
5.5
Overall
Although the first impression made it look shiny enough it does get repetitive and monotonous. On harder stages when you die and you have to figure out the correct way of going about your business it gets annoying.
